About 9mths before I was released they had converted a wing into a Special Care Unit for inmates who had served 10yrs or more to help prepare them for life after prison. I applied to be accepted to participate in the program and was 1 of 14 other inmates who were successful in the first intake. I was always grateful to be given the opportunity to be in the unit it was very full on it made me realize I was so out of touch to what I had perceived that life back into society would be like it was like comparing chalk to cheese.
